Tips To Take Care Of Dry Skin Caused By Hand Washing

This is a challenging time for all of us but we’re in this together.

To prevent the spread of infections & germs, it is recommended to wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds.

According to dermatologists itchy, dry or cracked skin reacts to irritants even more and is more permeable to infection, because of the damage to the outer skin ‘barrier’ layer allowing easier passage of irritants and infection.

Keeping your hands well moisturized and avoiding irritants is the key.

We have listed a few things you can do to keep your hands soft & supple even with frequent washing.

1. Use a good hand cream

Moisturize every time you wash your hands. Look for hydrating and nourishing hand creams to keep your hands replenished at all times.

As long as you are washing your hands with soap, you should be good. Look for soaps that helps moisturize when you wash your hands, it is infused with emollients or moisturizing agents that may not lather up as much but they are still very effective in keeping your hands clean.

3. Use a hand sanitizer with added moisturizer

Wash your hands with soap and water but in case, it is not available use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol to prevent germs & infections. However, hand sanitizers can also have a drying effect on your skin so we suggest that you look for the ones with a little more moisturizer to combat dryness.

Right now hand sanitization is incredibly important, even if your skin is irritated or dry. Don’t stop washing your hands and remember to keep them moisturized.
